Hummer Homecoming Motorcade
There were about 153 Hummers of various models in a convoy that stretched nearly 5 miles long that weaved its way through the southern South Bend area. It took about an hour and a half to get all of the trucks lined up in the St. Joseph 4 H fairgrounds parking area. The trip was about 60 miles in and and lasted about 2 hours and fifteen minutes. As we came through towns, people were lined up along the streets to see the convoy of trucks come through. Little kids went nuts and older people waved as we honked the train horn through town. It was great to see the enthusiasm of the local people. It is likely that some were retirees or had friends or relatives that work for AM General or GM. I think most people were amazed to see so many trucks! We were one of the last trucks to get in line, and as I drove around the fairgrounds, a once packed parking lot full of Hummers....was now deserted. As we headed around the west side of the fairgrounds, they had most of the trucks in three long rolls.
